what is Traceroute & how to Traceroute any ip

Traceroute is a computer network diagnostic tool for displaying the route (path) and measuring transit delays of packets across an Internet Protocol (IP) network.

From Windows 7 or Vista

To take traceroute on a windows machine, please follow the below given steps :
Windows 7 or Vista:
From the Start menu, in the search field, type cmd , and then press Enter. At the command prompt, enter
tracert example , where example is the IP address, name, or web site of the server you are trying to access

From other versions of Windows

Previous Windows versions:
From the Start menu, select Run… . In the “Open:” box, type cmd , and then press Enter. At the command prompt, enter
tracert example , where example is the IP address, name, or web site of the server you are trying to access

If you wish to copy the information out of the command prompt to
paste into an email, or other text format, follow these steps:
Right click in the command prompt and select “Select All”

This information can now be pasted into an email, notepad, word,
etc.

From Linux Machine

To take traceroute on a linux machine, please follow the below given steps :
Open your terminal
Type traceroute < domain name > or traceroute < ipaddress >
